Our Congressional Charter only allows Veterans who meet the following service periods to Join as regular Members of the American Legion. However, if you are not a Veteran meeting the specified time frames, you may have other options. Besides meeting these time frames, you must also be able to prove that you have an honorable discharge.
Here are the eligible service periods:
- April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918
- December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946
- June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955
- February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975
- August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984
- December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990
- Plus Desert Storm dates
August 2, 1990 through the end of hostilities.

The annual dues for 2019, are $38.00. We are implementing a new convenience fee for paying dues, or making donations online. The additional $1.40 will cover 100% of the fees we have to pay PayPal for processing your payment. In the past, we have paid these fees for you. Unfortunately, we can no longer continue this practice.
Thank you for your understanding. If you’d prefer NOT to pay this additional fee, you may still mail a check to the First Vice Commander. Please be sure to annotate the memo line of your check so we know if it is intended to pay for dues, or should be treated as a donation to one of the following:
- Membership Application
- General Fund
